Inter Service Public Relations on Sunday said that a total of 626 people, including political leaders, took shelters in different cantonments across Bangladesh fearing life risk after the fall of Sheikh Hasina-led government on August 5.
ISPR said that 615 people had already left the cantonments after the situation improved.
The Army had handed over four people to the law enforcers following legal process based on allegations against them while seven people were still in different cantonments.
Of the total, 24 politicians, five judges, 19 civil administration officials, 28 police officials, 487 police members, 12 officials of different public universities and 51 people, including women and children, took shelter in different cantonments.
ISPR said that the Army had provided information to the ministries concerned about sheltering them in the cantonments
